Brown House-moth Hofmannophila pseudospretella

This is one of those moths that you will suddenly find appearing on your house walls, being very much attracted to the  lights. A small, brownish moth with a series of dark markings on the forewings. Forewing length 7 to 11mm.

The adults are possibly seen all year round if the conditions are favourable, but more often during the summer period. Often found in and around buildings, and common and widespread throughout Britain. Originally an Asian species introduced to Europe in the 1840s. The larva feed on a wide variety of dead animal and vegetable matter.
