Pempelia palumbella

I really like the colours and patterns on this moth. It kind of reminds me of Inca art and design. Yet this pattern and colouration can vary. Forewing length 11 to 13mm (0.4 to 0.6in).

Pempelia palumbella

The adults fly July to August, and are seen mainly on heathland, so is quite an interesting one to have visit the garden. Local, and not seen in Scotland. The larva feeds on low plants like heathers.
