Black Arches Lymantria monacha male

Quite an attractive black and white moth which is a new visitor to my garden. This is a male with its large feathery antennae. Wingspan 30 to 50mm.

The adult flies July and August, and is mainly found in woodland. The larva feeds mainly on oak.
