Rosy Minor Litoligia literosa (Haworth, 1809) 73.171 BF2342

Wingspan 25-30 mm. Forewing length  10-13mm. Quite an attractively coloured and patterned moth with pinkish or reddish-brown tints mixed with greys.

Rosy Minor Litoligia literosa

The adult flies July to August, flying later than some of the other minors, and is attracted to light. Found in various habitats, including grasslands, coastal cliffs, and gardens. Common and widespread, and fairly abundant on the coast. The larva feeds on various grasses.

    1. Thank you, Jude 🙂 This was the first time I had seen this moth here, and I really liked its colouring and patterning. Got the trap out tonight, switched one 20w backlight for a 100w LED, and although warmer out it is quite blustery. I will see how it goes 🙂 How is your trapping going there?
