Long-horned Flat-body Carcina quercana


Carcina quercana

This is a fairly colourful moth with very long antennae. These two images show how variable this moth can be. There is only one species within this family in Britain. Forewing length 8 to 10mm.

Carcina quercana

The adult flies July to August, and can be seen in deciduous woodland, hedgerows and gardens. Common and widespread. The larva feeds on various trees and shrubs, including oaks and beeches.
